My Bio
My Name is Kate Hogan. I am a classically trained Mezzo-Soprano Living in Helena Montana. In 2020, I obtained my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at North Dakota State University where I studied with Marianne Lemieux. In 2017, I obtained my Bachelor of Music Education degree from South Dakota State University where I studied with Emily Toronto. From 2015 to 2018, I worked as a Choral Scholar for St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. From January to April of 2018, I was employed in Brookings, South Dakota as a long-term substitute teacher of choir and general music at Hillcrest Elementary, and Brookings High School. I have enjoyed many performance opportunities, appearing in opera scenes, fully staged operas, fully staged musicals, chamber ensembles, and chorus parts for large works such as Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem Mass and Georges Bizet’s Carmen. In opera scenes, I have portrayed characters such as The Countess from Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro and Mrs. Ford from Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. A few of my notable roles in fully staged shows include Edith from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, Cinderella from Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon, Jane from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience, The Baker's Wife from Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and Julius Caesar from Geroge Frederich Handel’s Giulio Cesare. Besides opera performances, I have also appeared in NDSU’s Baroque festival, singing works from Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
Mission Statement
“my hope is to uniquely encapsulate characters, emotions, and music on the stage; while also encouraging young singers to do so as well.”
